On a Wednesday, September 16, in Portage, IN, seven Holladay volunteers arrived at the Prairie Duneland Trail tunnel located at Willowcreek Road to give it a fresh paint job for the Portage Parks and Recreation Department.
The volunteers included Lydia Amado, Project Coordinator (Holladay Construction Group); Mike Micka, VP-Development (Holladay Properties); Michelle Mosier, Office Manager (Holladay Properties); Laura Small, Project Architect (Holladay Properties); Nick Sebert, Assistant Project Manager (Holladay Construction Group); Scott Trueblood, President & CEO (Holladay Construction Group); and Jessica Vargas, Project Architect (Holladay Properties). The group spent four hours painting the expansive tunnel, which had been vandalized and sprayed with graffiti.
The Portage office arranged this volunteer project to take the place of the Porter County United Way’s Day of Caring, which usually takes place in August each year, but was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19. The team worked with the Portage Parks and Recreation Department to plan this project, which was a Parks Department initiative that the Holladay was happy to complete in an effort to live up to its mission of enriching lives through investment and service.
