Sheds on Charlotte

The Sheds on Charlotte is a dramatic transformation of 50,000 SF of 1940s-era corrugated metal sheds into a light -filled office/retail complex encompassing an entire city block from 22nd and 23rd Avenues along Charlotte Avenue in Nashville, TN. Throughout the design and construction process, extra attention was given to keep the "bones" of the structure and many of the architectural elements of the existing building in place. An example of this can be found in the open courtyards, where the original steel trusses were left exposed and help create an outdoor space that flows seamlessly from building to building. Aluminum and glass garage doors open up to the courtyards allowing daylight and breezes into the creative work areas. Translucent wall panels were used on the end of the buildings, providing abundant natural light that accentuates the volume of the space, as well as providing a dramatic glow in the evening hours that can be seen along the Charlotte Avenue corridor.

The BowTruss Building in Nashville, TN is a former warehouse that was converted into creative office space. The project broke ground in August of 2012 and the first tenant, Stratasan, moved into their 4,500 SF space in February, 2013. Features like open architecture, exposed metal bowtruss beams, a vaulted wooden ceiling and spacious windows and skylights helped the building win an Excellence in Development Award from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in 2015. Holladay Construction also completed the Tenant Improvement projects for the building’s other tenants: Redpepper, an ad agency that occupies 18,000 SF; Deavor Creative Co-Working, a 5,700 SF project offering a new concept in creative workspaces with co-working desks and workspaces in a creative, open atmosphere as well as shared spaces like meeting rooms, board rooms and a multipurpose room for events and learning opportunities; and Concept Technology, an IT services provider, whose 8,700 SF space features a creative, non-traditional design.

Holladay Construction Group completed an office building for Covalen Inc. that involved the renovation of existing buildings and the construction of the core and shell of a new building. The project required the disassembly, movement, renovation and re-installation of an 1890s barn from western Ohio to Indianapolis, IN.

The Sawtooth Building

The Sawtooth Building is the World Headquarters for Research and Development for Griffin Technologies. Holladay Construction Group, with collaboration from local Architects and Engineers, renovated an iconic factory constructed in the early 1900s for General Wax Industries in Nashville, TN into the headquarters of one of the most well-known names in the Technology Industry. The project earned an Excellence in Development Award by the Urban Land Institute's Nashville District Council and a Preservation Award from the Metropolitan Historical Commission.


Moving into the BowTruss building was quite the adventure for red Pepper--this was our first big move and design of a workspace, and consequently we learned a lot of new things along the way. The entire team at Holladay was so helpful. They provided us with tons of design solutions, were amazing creative problem solvers and always completed things diligently. They somehow managed to remain extremely friendly through the whole process of bringing our somewhat crazy vision to life. All in all, our build was truly a team effort with a lot of ups and downs and we were so happy to work alongside Holladay Construction Group through it all.
