Scope:
Graybar’s facility in Tucson, AZ is an icon of sustainability and the first Graybar facility designed and built to high efficiency and LEED® standards. The 55,000 square foot building, completed in 2010, earned LEED® Gold certification. HCG incorporated a multitude of energy efficient and sustainable elements throughout the design and construction process. The electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot can fully charge a vehicle in 3 – 6 hours and are powered on-site, via a 166,375 KW solar array was installed on the roof, which achieves the maximum LEED® credit for on-site renewable energy and generates 88% of the building’s annual power needs. Also a sustainable benefit, the white TPO roof reflects sunlight and decreases the heat-island effect of the roof, dropping the air temperature and easing the load on the building’s cooling system.
